Mercy is the Breath of Life! Part Two
“Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” Luke 6:36
Mercy is often seen as a sign of weakness. Many people think that those who are merciful are not strong enough to be tough and punish others. However, the truth is that mercy is one of the noblest badges a person can wear. We all need mercy. We are all broken in some way, and we all need healing. Mercy heals our brokenness and makes us whole again. It is a sign of strength, not weakness, to show mercy to others even when they do not deserve it.
There are many stories and testimonies of people showing mercy, even when it is not easy. I have heard about a young man who shared Maglife Daily Devotional with his enemy (as he called it) who was going through some difficult times in his life that needed the same message to be delivered from the point of death. He forwarded the message to his called enemy and delivered him from suicide. This young man could easily ignore his enemy, but he chose to show mercy instead. Today, they have become a business partner. Mercy can be very powerful.
In Matthew 5:46-47, Jesus said, “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same?”
Mercy is a sign of compassion and love. It can change a person’s heart and help them become better. It can also bring peace and reconciliation to relationships that are broken. Mercy is a beautiful virtue that we should all strive to possess. As William Shakespeare said, “Sweet mercy is nobility’s true badge.” Its presence in our lives can change everything, from the simplest interaction to the most complex problem. This so-called mercy helps us stop injustice at its door and let compassion flow like a river.
Brethren, true nobility is not about rank or privilege but about using the power of mercy to make a difference in the world. When we show mercy to others, we show them that we care about them and want to help them heal their brokenness. Mercy is one of the most beautiful things a person can offer to another person. Now, I am counting on you to share the daily devotion with someone and show mercy even if they are your enemies. You don’t know what is going on in their minds at the moment, but you can help somebody by sharing Maglife Daily devotional. God bless you as you do. Amen. Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”
Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, I thank you for your love and kindness towards me.
2. I pray, take away every jealousy and selfish ambition in my heart in Jesus’ name.
3. Let your peace and harmony be with me to spread your mercy to others in Christ Jesus. Amen.
