” The daughters of Zelophehad speak the right: thou shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren, and thou shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.” Numbers 27:7
In times of crisis, our destination determines our destiny. In other words, where we go in times of crisis matters a lot. In Number 27:1-6, Zelophehad’s daughters never went about blathering the management or grouchy about how partial their father’s case was or what an ill-fated lot happened to them in life. Instead, they took their worries to God in prayer and then went further to meet the management with wisdom.
Zelophehad’s daughters channeled their concern, making a just demand. Although what they demanded was not attainable then, God said to Moses that the daughters of Zelophehad were right. Indeed, it is a tremendous moral for us to learn negotiation skills. In prayer, we seek guidance and wisdom to navigate through negotiations with grace, empathy, and integrity. – Prayer can provide us with inner strength and moral clarity as we engage in negotiations with others.
Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
One starts to marvel at why such correctness or fairness was never executed before this time. This shows that people could be denied their rights to divine justice until they meet specific demands. We don’t usually get what we merit in life; most times, we must make that genuine request before getting the transformation we have always desired. Things would have remained unchanged if those girls or ladies had not made that demand. That’s why the Bible says, “You have not because you ask not.”
As believers, we should not be immature over issues, especially when working for the right cause. Negotiation is the art of requesting what we believe ought to be ours. People may not treat you fairly or give you that which rightfully belongs to you, but be calm and approach the matter in a Godly and peaceful way. Hebrews 12:14 says, “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord.” Amen.
Prayer for the Day.
In the name of Jesus, I refuse to be denied any provision God has made for me. Amen.
