Nothing Without Jesus!
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” John 15:5
God never created humankind to function without Him. This truth can be traced back to creation when God made man and kept him in His presence. Everything that God created was never without an atmosphere or environment. He made water for fish, soil for the plant, and His presence for humankind. When you separate any of these things from its atmosphere, it malfunctions and dies.
If you separate a fish from the water, it dies; when you remove a plant from the soil, it dies; if humankind is separated from God, he malfunctions and dies. This death may not necessarily be physical, but indeed separation from God result in spiritual death. We need God; He is our source of life; we cannot survive without Him.
Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”
God wants us to be fruitful and has revealed all we need to do to enjoy an abundant life. Staying connected with Him (the true vine) is all we need to remain fruitful and successful. If a tree branch is separated from its source, the branch dies, and the leaves begin to wither. Therefore, as believers, we need to abide continually in Christ and put away every form of sin.
Our God is holy and cannot behold sin; no wonder He said in Isaiah 59:2, “but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, that He will not hear.” Sin separates man from God; Adam had a memorable time with God until Satan used his wife to lure him to sin against God. Up till today, humanity is still suffering from its sins. We all have to abide in Christ as sin can ruin our lives and generation after us.1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
Prayer:
1. Lord, Help me to abide in you continually.
2. Oh Lord, I can’t do without you, come and help me live my life according to your word in Jesus’ name.
