Righteousness of God.
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
Some of us, our parents, were Christians, and we grew up to identify ourselves as Christians, we believed that means of initiation was all it takes. We were cultured to do good and never to go against God’s will. Hardly did some people understand the real source of righteousness, that our righteousness is a gift that comes with our new birth in Christ, and it is not by ourselves but by His saving grace.
“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31
If you desire righteousness, you must first live in Christ and let Christ live in you. Nobody can obtain true righteousness except he or she first submits to Jesus. In John 15:7-8, Jesus said, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear many fruits, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
Righteousness is what gives us the privilege to stand boldly in God’s presence; we communicate freely with God without a feeling of inferiority, condemnations, blame, fear, or guilt. If the Holy Spirit must abide in you, righteous is what will make Him commune with you for long.
However, so many people have desired and pursued righteousness in their strength, while they fail to understand that nobody can make any righteousness, our righteousness is found and rooted in Jesus Christ. “And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction.” Romans 3:22
So we need to live in this realization and ensure that we live for Him alone. Moreover, we can only live by His Spirit; we live and walk by His Spirit because it is the spirit that gives life to us. Hold on to Jesus, Live in Jesus, and Submit unto Jesus. John 6:63 says, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you–they are full of the Spirit and life.”
Prayer:
1. Father, I thank you for the privilege you’ve given unto all to be righteous again through Christ Jesus.
2. Oh, Lord! Put your spirit within me and make me live in Christ.
3. Lord, I pray that you give me the strength to stand up against evil and unrighteousness in Jesus name.
