Sekhel, A Sense of Excellence! Part Five
“Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!” Psalm 150:2
The Bible tells us that “every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17). This means that everything good in our lives comes from Him. Therefore, one of the ways we can show our appreciation to God is by striving for excellence in all that we do and never taking anything for granted. Whether we are working on a project or simply going about our day-to-day routine, we should never overlook any small thing that God has done for us.
In Luke 17, we are given a glimpse into the life of Jesus. We see ten lepers who came to Jesus seeking relief from their disease in this passage. However, only one of the lepers – a foreigner – returned to thank Jesus. The other nine lepers went back to their lives as they had before. What struck me most about this story was how brief and important the gratitude of the foreigner (one leper) seemed to awe Jesus when He said, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where then are the other nine? Was no one found except this foreigner to return and give glory to God? Then Jesus said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well!”
Romans 10:9 says, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
When we give praise and show gratitude, it brings us joy and can also have a powerful healing effect on our lives. If that one leper never returned to give thanks, Jesus would not have prophesied more into his life. Therefore, your attitude and gratitude manifest your desires faster than you think. Giving thanks strengthens our connection with God and fills us with power. So next time you find yourself feeling down in the dumps, try giving thanks for all the good things in your life–it might just help you start feeling better right away!
Giving praise and showing gratitude are known to have powerful healing effects. It can complete us, empower us, and give us the strength to shine in life. According to Jesus, these two things are vital for our well-being. When we are around people praising and thanking God, it helps us feel complete and healed. It gives us a sense of power and strength because we know that God is with us no matter what. Praise creates an environment of happiness where people want to be around each other. Amen. Psalm 145:3 says, “Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable.”
Prayer:
Praise God now for his goodness and mercy. Amen.
