“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” James 5:14
Have you heard about this statement before, “that sin you committed is huge, you dare not talk to God or even share it with anyone” If yes, I will tell you that this is a widespread deception, especially to a new believer and even to some who have been born again for long but are still under this misconception. The truth is, millions of Christians, including the ones close to you, have felt what you’re feeling now. For most people, the reason why they hide their temptations/faults is pride or lack of knowledge of God’s Word.
Many people don’t even realize that they are doing wrong by not sharing their faith with others. So, how can we stop this? The answer lies in our actions. We must first confess that we are sinners and then repent from our sins. I understand that we all want to feel spiritually buoyant so that people will see us as having everything under control. Proverbs 28:13 says, “Whoever conceals their sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.”
But sometimes, the little things you cannot talk about now can be out of control in your life and can lead to many problems later on. The earlier, the better if you ask for help to deal with that small issues before it becomes more prominent. Remember, if you can handle it on your own, you could have already done so. Some problems you have become so used to and now too big to handle on your own. Dear brother or sister, you need someone or persons to encourage you, pray for you, love you dearly, and eventually follow up with you. Don’t die in silence.
As you read this, what are you pretending about? What are you hiding from people that is/has killed your spiritual life, finance, and family? Though it’s humbling to admit and share our weaknesses with others, lack of humility is the very thing that has been keeping us from getting better. Speak to God. There’s help in Zion. Psalm 32:3 says, “When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long.”
Prayer:
Lord, I ask for your help to admit my weaknesses and overcome them in Jesus’ name.
