Stand Up to the Devil! 2
“And give no opportunity to the devil.” Ephesians 4:27
“When you are in Rome, you behave like the Romans” and “if you cannot beat them, you join them” are two popular sayings that support conformity and compromising to what the general public is doing. It lures people to believe the lies of the Devil. It makes people disobey God’s commands and follow Satan’s lead. But guess what, those who believed the Devil were kicked out of God’s plan. I know you don’t want to be part of that.
When Apostle Paul look at the Corinthians, he said, “I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Do you know why he said this? Because of Corinthians lifestyle of running after false prophet and false teachers and not realizing that they are following yielding to Devil’s work.
2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “In their case, the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
The Devil is trying to get you into sin. He is trying to make you bow down and follow him. But it would be best if you resisted his temptation not to take away your freedom. Please do the same thing as the three Hebrew men refused to bow down when they were forced to conform to serving the golden image that has been set up. Even though Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego were slaves in that land, they were not afraid of what will happen if they do not follow their ways (Daniel 3:18).
Brethren, standing for God can be very tasking because persecutions will come that will look like you have to compromise to save your lives. But let me remind you that you do not actually stand for God but rather protect your destiny. Though standing to do the right thing will make God proud, but the stake of staying away from sin is worth it. Remember, until Jesus told Satan, “Get thee behind me” the third time before the Angel came to minister to Him. So, you, too, can resist the Devil so that the plan of God will work out in your favor in Jesus’ name. Amen. Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear God, and delivers them.”
Prayer:
1. My God, I praise you for your wonderful work in me and my family.
2. Oh Lord, give me the strength and power to resist every lie of the Devil in my life and family in Jesus’ name. Amen.
