The Cross!

“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14

During the period of Jesus’ death, at the last supper, He told his disciples that they should do that in remembrance of him. He wanted his death to be always remembered. After then, he was slain on a cross at Calvary. What is a cross? It is an instrument used in punishing and killing criminals in the old times, just like electric chairs and gallows are doing that purpose nowadays. So why is the cross significant? Because of what happened on it.

“It is finished” was Jesus’ words on the cross, and He paid for our sins with His life as a sacrifice. We are saved because He died for us. The cross signifies the salvation plan of God. In revelation 13:8, the Bible mentioned that “the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world.” This shows that the plan for our salvation has been there from the beginning of the Word.

1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.”

Calvary is the only way that leads to heaven. There is no other way or plan B. Jesus is the way, truth, and life because he is God’s plan for salvation. The cross is a nutshell to the whole story of Christ’s death to save us from sin. Our way of connecting our faith with God’s love is that his grace saves us through Jesus Christ, who came into our lives as a sacrifice for our sins.

Looking at the cross, you should see your sins, the curse of sins, and God’s love for you, the cost it took for the remission of sins, and the hope for sinners. You cannot turn any other way or pass through the back door. The only way to eternal life and repentance of sins is through the cross of salvation, where your savior was slain without committing any offense. 1 Peter 2:24 says, “Jesus himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds, you have been healed.

Prayer:
1. Thank you for your love on the cross at Calvary, Lord.
2. Psalm 91; The Lord is My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust in all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
