The House of Judah!
The tribe of Judah happens to be one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Judah was the fourth son of Jacob and his first wife, Leah. The tribe of Judah is only made up of two tribes (Judah and Benjamin). They are represented with the symbol of a lion to show that they are powerful, some say because of Jacob in his blessings to them, called them the lion whelps. That is why they represent themselves with a lion. That’s true, but not the only reason.
The house of Judah took the lead in the affairs of the family and prevailed above their brethren (1 Chronicle 5:2; Genesis 44:14). They were commissioned by God to lead in the conquest of the promised land (Judges 1:1-3), they were given the promise to rule forever in the land of Israel (2 Samuel 7:16). They produced a lot of mighty who ruled both in Judah and Israel, which include Isaiah, Amos, Habakkuk, Joel, Zechariah, and so on.
The mystery behind their success and why they were powerful than the other tribes, is that they have made praising God their nature. Not only because their name stands for praise, but they understood that to make God arise from his throne on behalf of someone is through praise. They did not praise God only when they are happy or when things are going well, like most Christians do, but they praise God amid troubles and afflictions.
Check the praise of king Jehoshaphat when he was confronted by three cities (2 Chronicles 20:1-18) and also king David when he fled from Absalom his son (Psalm 3). What challenges are you going through? If you have prayed? Have you praised him? If you have not, begin to do that now.
PRAYER
1. O Lord, thank you for how faithful you have been to me, to my family, and loved ones.
2. Father, let the holy spirit that teaches one how to praise God amid trial and persecutions rest upon me in Christ’s name. Amen!
