The Humble Mind! 3
“But He gives more grace. Therefore, it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
Pride is a universal language of destruction, but humility is the ground excellence for growth. That is why many theologians said that pride goes before fall (Proverbs 16:18). Though, it’s not easy to get rid of ego, especially in our age of social media, where we see so much self-promotion with lies behind the scenes. To make ourselves look better than others, we also contribute to the game of being prouder.
It’s important to remember that pride is not only about being arrogant or self-centered but also shortsighted, godly perspective. When you are too proud and don’t realize how far you have come, your arrogance will take over and become a hindrance to noticing the little things that can destroy or help life. For example, when Goliath and Philistine looked and saw David, they despised him because he was just a boy, without knowing what he could do.
Psalm 101:5 says, “Whoever slanders his or her neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; the one with haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not endure.”
Are you that type of person who ignores the little warning that comes from God because of its appearance or how it sounds? If you’re like that, then you need to be clothed with humility’s mind so that God can honor and give you more grace. Remember, humility comes before honor, just as pride goes before destruction (Proverbs 15:33). If you don’t know how to be humble, ask God for help.
Don’t let your ego get in the way of God’s love and grace in your life, especially when you hear the word of God. Instead, let your heart be tender and humble yourself before God by trusting him for everything. It doesn’t matter how big or small the warning or the problem you have cause remember God is always there for you. But you have to be humble enough to trust him with all your heart. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Prayer:
1. Dear Lord, thank you for your mercy and love for my family and me.
2. Holy Ghost, let every root of pride in me be uprooted in Jesus’ name.
3. 2 Cor.12:9; Oh Lord let your sufficient grace for uncommon advancement and elevation, rest upon me, my career, ministries, and business in the name of Jesus.
Amen
