The Lord Needs Them!
“And if any man asks you, Why do ye lose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.” Luke 19:31.
This is one of the scriptures that talks about the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as prophesied by holy men of God. The significance of Jesus coming as a king riding on the ass is to signify what his mission is. The ass was a common animal that was used to bear the burden of people, assist them in conveying their loads.
Jesus came to bear the burden of your sins and my sins. Surely He had taken our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:4. Have you ever wondered where he got the ass from? Has he ordered for the ass initially that the bible did not say anything about? But the ass had a description and also an address where it can be found. (vs. 30).
The ass was purchased with the word of God, Jesus gave them six-letter words to bring the ass to him, the disciples also exercised their faith to follow the instructions, and it became a reality. This was the same as when Jesus first met Peter, he explained his pain to Jesus how they have been toiling all through the night with no fish to catch, and Jesus told him to throw his net inside the river, and he obeyed by faith in the word of God. Guess what happened (Luke 5:4-6).
You don’t need to panic over that challenge you are going through. You don’t need to make human your helper; what you need is a more sure word of prophecy (2 Peter 1:19) couple it with your faith (see Heb 4:2), and then you can come out strong as an eagle. Proverbs 6:23 says, “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.”
Father, open my heart to trust in your word and not what is going on around me in Jesus’ name. Amen
