The Mind of Unity and Peace!
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgment.” 1 Corinthians1:10.
Unity and peace are two crucial ingredients in a sandwich for progress among the body of Christ; when there is unity, there will be peace. There is a blessing upon those who follow after peace and try their best to keep the church in unity; Because unity and peace weld us together to create a significant force that can bring about change.
The bible makes us understand that the meek shall inherit the earth and delight themselves in the abundance of peace (Psalm 37:11). Throughout Christ’s ministry, Jesus kept His disciples in unity and bond of peace, and we are also expected to live in peace and unity among brethren. In His prayers for the disciples, we saw that He kept them together in peace and unity, and none of them was lost except the son of perdition that the scriptures might be fulfilled ( John 17:12).
Ephesians 4:3 says, “Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Jesus prayed for their unity and the unity of those that will believe in Him through their words. (John17:12-21). As a Christian, we are not to serve as a stumbling block or elements of discord to the body of Christ or our society. We should, as much as possible, try to take the path of peace rather than war. We should be the agent of peace and unity in our community, or anywhere we go.
The world is filled with people who have been broken, so they need someone like you and me who can propagate peace and unity around them. Therefore, whatever we have learned of Christ, let us use it to feed our minds and put that wisdom of God into Practice to help others. 2 Corinthians 13:11 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”
Prayer:
1. Father Lord, help me to be in peace with all men.
2. Please give me the wisdom to be able to work in unity with the brethren.
