The Perfect Guide!
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26
I had a little talk with one smart teacher, and she shared a story with me about her pupils. She said, “as a classroom teacher, part of my job is to give an assignment to my pupils and correct their errors.” One day, as she was sitting down in her office and marking the notes of her pupils with a sad face of disappointment. She told me that it is very disappointing that they cannot do well on the tests.
However, she said she marks every script except for Donatus, and they all failed the questions. “Donatus was the least bright pupil in her class,” she said, but to her amazement, the boy solved the questions correctly. So, she decided to summon the boy quickly to her office to question how he solved the assignment. Donatus replied, “my mother is the perfect guide.” That was a great lesson.
John 16:13 says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”
And just like Donatus, we have the perfect guide inside us, “The Holy Spirit.” Life can throw hard questions and puzzles at us at different moments. Jesus told us in John 16:33 that “in this world, you will have trouble.” But the good news is that you have overcome, and the perfect guide is inside you to give direction on how to exercise your victory. The Holy Spirit has several roles to play in a believer’s life, and one of them is to guide.
Sometimes when you feel pressure from life and disappointment over things, which is the perfect time to respond to the Holy Spirit inside you. He is ever ready to talk and lead you to a place of peace. His voice in your heart may be slow, still, but yielding to such voice is the light out of your dark tunnel. Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.”
Prayer:
1. Holy Spirit, in my times of despair, help me to see your guiding hand.
2. Isaiah 11:2; May the Spirit of the Lord rest upon you, the Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, power, counsel, and the fear of the Lord in Jesus’ name!
