The Power of Your Mind! 4
“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6
The mind governed by the natural thing is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law nor please God because the flesh controls it. On the other hand, the spiritual mind is the part of the mind focused on the spiritual thing, especially the mind concerned with intuition, inspiration, and revelation from God. The spiritual is concerned with the soul, the spiritual environment, and spiritual possessions from the realm of the Spirit. This is where our minds align with the things of God. That’s why John 4:24 says, “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:6 that “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit” In other words, we cannot continue to embrace the things of the flesh and expect God to give us life. Because for an individual to have a genuinely fulfilling life, the mind must be governed by the spiritual. This can be accomplished through developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. When the mind is governed by the spiritual, it constantly looks for ways to be at peace and appreciate life. It also realizes that the flesh is no help at all, and so it looks to the Spirit for guidance and strength.
John 6:63 says, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. Therefore, the words that I have spoken to you are Spirit and life.”
The spiritual mind is universal and is not limited by time, law, or space. It connects us with all that is and provides us with a sense of oneness and connectedness with God in Christ Jesus. That’s why Romans 6:14 says, “For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” And those who are under grace don’t toy around with sinful nature because they know that they are alive to God in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:11). That’s why Apostle Paul said, “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?” In other words, can we continue in the things of the flesh (sin) and remain alive in God’s grace? Certainly not!
Therefore, the mind governed by the Spiritual is life and peace. It’s always looking for what’s right, what’s good enough, what’s present. It’s always looking for a way to appreciate and bless, and It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. God’s Spirit in us helps us flow through the source of love, compassion, peace, joy, and abundant life in Christ Jesus. So to empower your mind, to be more like Christ, you must first become aware of your thoughts. Because the mind governed by the Spiritual is always looking for what’s right, what’s good enough, and what God wants. It’s always looking for a way to appreciate and bless. Romans 6:1 says, “Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but others cannot evaluate them themselves.”

2. Oh Lord, help me to be more like Jesus in my life.
3. Holy Spirit, come into my life now and bless me with the fruit of the Spirit to live a life that is pleasing to God.
