“Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.” John 6:27
A preacher once said, “Do not work for money, let money work for you.” We are in a time and dispensation when the quest for a comfortable life is strongly dependent on how much wealth and affluence a man possesses. Money is good, but believers shouldn’t work solely to gather riches. Wealth in all its forms is like the glory of a flower which blooms in the morning, and when the sun is high, the glory fades away. The Pursuit of God only can lead us to eternal joy.
When believers engaged in any form of work, the mind on the job should be more of winning more souls and supporting more souls on their path to eternity with God. Our jobs and daily labor should be placed in the category of kingdom advancement strategy. Every skill and job offer us the means of reaching out to many in different sectors of the economy and government. We are to harness the opportunity to reach out to their souls and help them to find their paths in God for eternity sake.
Beyond the social strata privileges of reaching out to men that our job offers us, it also allows us to mentor people that are placed under us. We are to show them the right way, remembering that after our generation, come theirs, and this makes it expedient for us to take the right step by being the best example to others. These is the righteous labor that God rewards here on earth and even hereafter; hence live wisely, invest in others, show them the way and give them the word of God that cannot be taken away from them. Jesus said, “Martha, Martha,” “you are worried and upset about many things. But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42.
