THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RIGHTEOUS!
“Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ’The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked man cause him to stumble on the day he turns from his evil. Nor will the righteous man be able to survive by his righteousness on the day he sins.” Ezekiel 33:12
What many Christians call righteousness today is not what it is; let’s look at the case of the Pharisees and Sadducee. They are teaching false doctrine and seem like they are doing the right thing. Likewise, some people called righteousness as once saved, they are saved forever, yet still living a sinful life.
However, they forgot this scripture in Romans 8:1 that says, “Therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, them who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit.” This means you must continue in the obedience of the word of God so that you will not fall from the status of salvation.
I pray for you today that you will not fall into the trap of enemy in Jesus’ name.
Righteousness is a life after the order of Jesus; it is slaying the flesh and crucifying the desires of oneself (Galatians 5:24). It is showing love to one’s neighbor and sharing their burden; it is meek (I can do nothing of my own ) and the fear of God in us (humility before God ). This is what true righteousness is all about.
So if you have been holding a view or practicing righteousness in the wrong way or a false perspective from what you now know in this devotion, involve yourself in an exchange of thoughts and actions. Ezekiel 33:19 says, “If the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live.”
Prayer:
1. I pray that this devotion shall continuously remind you of living soberly, godly, and righteously in this present world. Amen!
