Trust and Obey!
“Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness And has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD And rely upon his God.” Isaiah 50:10
In 1887 John H. Sammis composed the song called ‘Trust and Obey.’ When I read the lyrics, the refrain of the song caught my attention immediately. It sounds simple but powerful message that resonated with me when he said;
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way, To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
You see, for any relationship to work for its purpose, whether it be romantic or Platonic, you must first know each other. You can not know each other if you don’t love each other. And to love each other requires a certain level of trust. But when you failed the level of trusting each, then disobedience will take over. Because obedience is the ability to follow through on your commitments that leads to blessing.
The same goes for your relationships with Jesus Christ. You have to trust before you can expect Him to lead you in life. And when He leads, you must obey to follow what He said and do what he commanded. Because your obedience in God’s will leads you to peace and prosperity for all who obey him.
So, trust in God and obey his commands. There is no other way to be happy in Jesus Christ than by obeying him. If your past has given you a reason to disobey, then it is time to stop doing so, because disobedience leads to consequences that may be painful. I pray that the Lord will help you to live a life of obedience. Isaiah 26:4 says, “Trust in the LORD forever because GOD the LORD is the Rock eternal.”
Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, lead me to where you want me to go,
2. Give me the Living Water that I may drink and be satisfied In Jesus’ name.
