“And at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.”Acts 16:25
Praising God at all times is the most pleasant way to live and one of the most triumphant ways of life. Praise is more like a vehicle’s engine that makes things happen fast. The trial of our faith is not complete without praise. Colossians 2:7 says, “rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
Praise is not an admonition but a command, and God loves to see us praise Him at all times; it doesn’t matter whether things are going right or wrong, so long we have breath in us, we owe God praises. Many believers still believe that the Christian race is all rosy and always pleasant as the earth is the Lord’s, the fullness thereof. But the fact remains that the trial of our faith worketh patience.
Psalm 71:8 says, “My mouth is filled with your praise and with your glory all the day.”
Remember, how we praise God in the face of tribulations and disappointment determines if we are genuine children of God. Everybody can be your friend when all is well, but not all of them will stay when things become bad. God needs a friend who says, like Job, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in Him: but I will maintain my own ways before Him.”
Paul and Silas were savants of God who diligently served Him against all odds. Despite their commitment to God’s work, Paul and Silas were jailed for the sake of the gospel. They were never angry with God; instead, they sang and praised God for His glorious and wondrous work, and God showed up for them. No matter what life brings for us, let’s learn to praise God; He may tarry but will indeed show up for us. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Prayer for the Day!
Father, teach me how to always praise you, and I will be thankful for your blessings. Amen.
