Why God Made You? Part Two
“But for this purpose, I have raised you, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.” Exodus 9:16
It’s a question that people have asked throughout the ages: Why did God make me? Some believe that humans were created as a way for God to express his love and compassion, others believe that humans were created to lead others to God, and still others believe that humans were created as a way to help God govern and oversee the universe. To some, the question still seems like an unanswerable question. But to believers, there is an answer.
When we look at ourselves in the mirror, we see a reflection of who we are. In the same way, when we look at God, we see a reflection of His character. We are made in God’s image, so we reflect His love and care for all of creation. God created us for a purpose, and we are valuable to Him. He loves us and wants us to be happy. That’s why He gave us free will – so that we can choose to love Him back. And when we do, it brings joy to His heart.
2 Timothy 1:9 says, “God saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.”
In a world where people are constantly looking for happiness, it seems that many have forgotten what it means to be holy. People have become so focused on themselves that they have lost sight of what is truly important. The Bible tells us that we are made to be holy and live in fellowship with God and others. This means that we are called to put others before ourselves and to love God with all of our hearts. That’s why 1 Peter 1:15-16 says, “But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
When you look at the night sky, examine a blade of grass, or ponder the wonder of a human heart, you can’t help but ask: Why? Why are we here? What is our purpose? One answer to that question is that we are made to be stewards of God’s creation. We are called to take care of this earth, and all that inhabits it. To love and protect all life. Use the gifts God has given us to make the world a better place. This is one of the purposes. This is one of the reasons why we are here. When we live our lives in service to others, we come closer to fulfilling our destiny. We find meaning and happiness in what we do and bring glory to God. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, help me fulfill your purpose in my life because everything exists for your glory forever from you and through you. Amen.
2. I can do nothing on my own, therefore hear me and help me know your will in Jesus’ name. Amen.
