Zurushiddai

“There is no one holy like the LORD. There is no one besides You! And there is no rock like our God.” 1 Samuel 2:2

“There is no rock like our God” was a popular simile among Israel’s inspired songwriters, depicting the image of a rock from a layman’s perspective. Let us consider who dares to smash a rock with ease; there is no other stone that compares. Hannah was familiar with this song, as evidenced by the term “rock” applied to God. The same word frequently appears in the Psalms, and it simply means, “Thou alone art a secure protection and sanctuary to those who fled to thee, and trust in thee,” as I have discovered from my own experience.

For there is none like you is a suffix telling us that there may be other gods who can be referred to as Rock, but I tell you that our Rock is different and unique. Deuteronomy 32:31; But their “rock” is not like our Rock; even our enemies concede” and our Rock cannot flee like the gods of the Amorites or the Jebusites, giving us the confidence that we will not be put to shame, or have you not heard that other rocks flee when their people need them the most.

Deuteronomy 32:30; How could one man pursue a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight unless their Rock had sold them unless the LORD had given them up?

Our Rock is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Rock of Refuge and Salvation. From this Rock, the children of Israel drank on two occasions. It was verified in the New Testament when Jesus declared, “Whoever comes to me will never thirst again.” The Hebrew phrase Zurushiddai means “my rock is the Almighty.” The dilemma you must answer is who can be equal to the Almighty or who can stand in his way. The obvious answer would be no one, for the Almighty is incomparable and unequaled.

So no matter what challenges you face in life, know that you can always rely on God as your strong foundation and confidently declare that the Lord is my Rock! Zurishaddai: The Almighty is my Rock and strength. I will not be shaken, for He is my foundation. His love never fails, and His faithfulness endures forever. With Him on my side, I can do anything! Nothing is too hard for Him. Psalm 18:2 says, “The LORD is my Rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

2. Deuteronomy 32:18; Holy Spirit, help me not ignore the Rock of my life; and not forget the God who brought me forth. Amen
