“Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.” Titus 3:10
In the race to be the best, we often forget that true victory lies in collaboration rather than competition. In the cut-throat world of corporate competition, I remember colleagues were consumed by the need to outshine one another. Collaboration and teamwork seemed distant dreams, overshadowed by their relentless pursuit of personal success. It was an environment where every interaction felt fraught with ulterior motives and hidden agendas.
Nevertheless, fate had a surprise in store for these rival coworkers during their company’s annual team-building retreat. Unbeknownst to them, a seemingly simple task was about to revolutionize their perspectives on collaboration. Their mission? To construct a colossal puzzle together – one that would require each individual’s unique contribution to succeed. Their initial hesitations gradually melted away as they gathered around the jumbled mess of puzzle pieces. The realization dawned that this complex undertaking couldn’t be accomplished alone; it necessitated cooperation, trust, and unity.
Ephesians 4:3-4 says, “Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call.”
Each box contained fragments related to a colleague’s skill set – a symbol of the interconnectedness they had overlooked for far too long. As they delved into their boxes, they stumbled upon pieces labeled with names they considered rivals just hours earlier. Some scoffed while others pondered the significance of this unexpected twist. Yet deep down, they all knew what needed to be done – setting aside prejudice and rivalry was crucial if they wanted this massive puzzle to take form.
Gradually, conversations broke out among them as preconceived notions were discarded like dusty old relics. Hidden talents were unveiled and appreciated as individuals shared tips and strategies freely. The air transformed from tense apprehension to contagious enthusiasm, fueled by the joyous anticipation of successfully completing the grand puzzle together. The coworkers became harbingers of a new era within their corporate environment. They learned firsthand that an excessive focus on competition could hinder not only collaboration but also personal growth and fulfillment. Amen. Romans 14:19 says, “So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” Amen.
Prayer for Today,
Lord Jesus, grant me wisdom and discernment as I navigate through the challenges within my business endeavors. Shield me from jealousy, envy, and unhealthy competition that may hinder my ability to flourish. Instead, let collaboration and shared success be the driving forces behind every venture I undertake. Amen.
