Aspects of a Godly Blessing! 2

“The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.” 2 Samuel 6:11

When you hear the word God’s blessing, you are reminded of the power of God. But little did you know that this word comes in different packages and forms than you could ever imagine. At times it comes in what we call a blessing in disguise, and sometimes it comes in the form of divine chastisements that will make us feel like questioning God’s purpose for our lives. I am sure many people have experienced this instance and have been through it all.

However, it doesn’t matter how you question God or how people question God’s power in your life; I want to assure you that you’re right where you need to be. If you can look deeply, appreciate God for everything, and accept that God has kept you alive for a reason, you will see that you are in the right place at the right time. Therefore, when you don’t know why, ask God for help, and he will answer you. When Joseph was sold into slavery, I sure little did he know that He was headed in the right direction.

Psalm 92:12-14 says, “The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green.”

Obed-Edom, for instance, surprised everyone, even king David. God positioned Obed-Edom at the outskirt part of the city, where everyone questioned the God who created him. People labeled him a useless man in the city and called him a different name, yet he never changed his mind about God who saved and gave us life. This was not an easy task to do, but it was done with great grace because he knew God would help him through. And God did help him through it all. Let see how God blessed him.

2nd Samuel 6:9-12 says, “David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, “How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?” So he was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom, the Gittite. The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household. Now King David was told, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom, and everything he has, because of the ark of God.” You are next for God’s blessing in Jesus’ name. But make sure you hold on to Jesus. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”

Prayer:
1. Thank God for who you are, where he brought you from, and he is taking you.
2. Psalm 139 1. I praise you because “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”; your works are wonderful. I know that full well.
3. Lord Jesus, Turn every curse into a blessing.
