“For we know the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.” Romans 7:14
Being an overcomer of sin through the Holy Ghost is like a lifeguard saving a struggling swimmer from drowning; the Holy Ghost can come to our rescue if we seek Him and rely on His power to help us overcome our sins. Through sin, our lives can become cluttered with various difficulties that seem insurmountable. But when we look to the Holy Ghost and trust in His power, we can overcome any difficulty and be free from sin. The Holy Ghost is a powerful source of strength, guidance, and reassurance that will never lead us astray.
The Holy Ghost guides us in all aspects of life and helps us discern between right and wrong. He gives us strength to stand firm in adversity, comfort during times of distress, hope for brighter days, courage to face challenges, and faith that all things are possible through God’s grace. Paul recognized the power of sin to enslave us and keep us from experiencing the freedom that comes through faith in Jesus. In Romans 7:14, Paul writes, “I am carnal, sold under sin.” As a result of this truth, we need help to overcome our sinful nature. Fortunately, we have an ally in this battle: The Holy Ghost.
Romans 6:6 says, “We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.”
The Bible teaches that the Holy Ghost gives us strength to overcome temptation and break free from sin’s bondage (John 16:7-8). We can surrender our lives to Him knowing He will help us fight against the sins which seek to bind us. This process begins by allowing Him into our hearts each day as we confess and repent. We all face challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming. But it’s important to remember that we can overcome obstacles with God’s help.
When we yield to His power and allow the Holy Spirit into our hearts each day by confessing and repenting of our sins, we become equipped with the strength to be an overcomer in any circumstance. Engaging in spiritual cleansing and revival of our souls can often feel overwhelming for many of us. Yet, by taking the initiative to yield to God’s power daily, we will begin a journey toward restoring our spirits and gaining greater strength from within. So, be strong and courageous in your faith, and the Holy Ghost will give you the power to overcome sin. Amen. Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Amen.

1. I pray, Oh Lord, that you would never cast me away from your presence. I do not understand the ways of life, but I know you have my best interest.
2. As I come before you with an open heart, I ask for only one thing: that you take not your Holy Spirit from me but renew His power within me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
