Becoming Righteous!

Becoming Righteous!

However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.” Romans 4:5

God has made His son be sin for us so that we can become sinless and righteous. But how do we become righteous? The Bible says that we are not made righteous by our works or deeds but by our faith. Yes, the way to be righteous is through faith and not by doing good deeds. We all have sinned and fall short of righteousness.

Our righteousness is seen as filthy rags by God, so our works cannot make us righteous. Our trying to be perfect cannot bring righteousness but our faith. Christ has died for us and our sins, and by so doing, He took away our sins and made us debt-free. Yes, we might feel guilty when we sin, and the feeling seems to linger for a long time. However, when you accept the Lord as your savior, you become new. The spirit changed, but your body is still there and might be causing you to sin.

James 2:23 says, “And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.”

There are two ways to become righteous and be free from the feeling of guilt. First, you have to try: when you put in the work to try and please God, your spirit will lead you to continue to do more in God’s way and towards God’s Kingdom. Second, you have to believe and trust: trusting God and Christ’s finished work on the cross on Calvary has made you perfect. You have become righteous in Christ, and your faith has made you whole.

We can only please God through faith and not by works, and that’s the way you can be made righteous. Believe in Jesus Christ, and his love for you gives you a great privilege. The righteousness of God is connected to the love of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

Prayer:
1. 2 Corinthians 5:17; Oh Lord, thank you for making all things new in my life through Christ Jesus.
2. My Father, strengthen my faith and make me righteous in Jesus’ name. Amen.
