Being Filled with Hope!
“There we sat down by the rivers of Babylon, yea, and we wept When we remembered Zion.” Psalm 137:1
There are times when we feel down, lost, and without hope in all of our lives. We may be going through a tough time or experiencing a great loss. It can be hard to find any light in the darkness. But even amid our lowest moments, we can find hope in God. When we are filled with hope in Him, He will bring us back to life; He will turn our mourning into joy. That’s why Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
The book of Psalms is full of songs of hope and praise to God. Psalm 137 is a song of lament written by the Israelites after being captured and taken to Babylon. Despite their difficult circumstances, the Israelites found hope in God. They reminded themselves that God was still with them even though they were in a foreign land. They could still find joy in Him, even amid their sorrow. The psalmist finds hope in God amid great despair. This hope is based on God’s faithfulness and love. We too can find hope in difficult times by turning to God.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
If that God, whom we serve can deliver in the worst-case scenario; if there is nothing you remember about God’s faithfulness to deliver, and you remember a story like Lazarus, where his sisters who happen to be Mary and Martha, were crying and lamenting that Jesus came late. The corpse is getting decomposed, yet God proved himself in the situation. So why are you cast down and filled with sorrows from your setbacks, and why do you think your wrong cannot be righted, this is a word from the living God that he is there with you in your situation and the right time has come for him to deliver you.
No matter what you are going through, you can find hope in God. He is always with you, no matter what. He is a God of compassion and mercy, and He will never leave you alone. You can find hope in His promises, and you can trust that He will bring good out of even the worst situations. When you are feeling down, it can be helpful to read God’s word and be reminded of God’s faithfulness. Pray for God’s guidance and for His presence to comfort you in your time of need. Psalm 137 reminds us that we can find hope in God even in our darkest moments. Praise God forevermore. Romans 5:5 says, “Hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
1. Praise be to God for his miraculous deeds and wondrous works in my life.
2. Dear Holy Spirit, make me filled with hope in God that he will never fail his promises concerning me.
3. Psalm 126:5: I pray that anywhere you have sowed in tears, you will surely reap with joy in Jesus’ name. Amen.
