Chosen to Produce the Best!

Chosen to Produce the Best!

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” John 15:16

It feels good to be picked. From children on the playground to teenagers trying out for a sports team to adults in the workplace—we feel special when chosen. We want to be wanted, and we want to be seen. If you are in Christ, then Jesus has chosen you.

God has picked you. Not only does He call you His own (who doesn’t feel warm inside when someone we look up to introduces us as their Father?), He has given you an assignment. Just as chosen players on a team have duties, those chosen by Christ are assigned the responsibility to bear fruit. Not just any fruit, mind you, it is the kind of spiritual fruit that will last for all eternity.

John 15:8 says, “By this, my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”

The will of the Father is that all men and women should be productive and bear fruit. Should you doubt your ability to produce the best fruit, Jesus promises divine help through conversation with the Father. Don’t give up because you have been picked to deliver the best, given a purpose and a promise of eternal life.

Understand that any tree that does not bear fruit does not add value; hence, it could be ignored or removed, but God hasn’t created a failure or an unfruitful plant; we are undoubtedly a product being in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit empowers you to carry out Jesus’ invitation to follow Him and become fishers of people. He has granted you the power to produce! Now go and carry out your assignment. Ephesians 4:21 says, “Surely you heard of Him and were taught in Him–in keeping with the truth that is in Jesus.”

Prayer:
1. Father, I am humbled that You have chosen me for a mission. Guide me to produce lasting fruit for Your glory.
2. Psalm 51:12: Oh Lord, restore me as a fruitful tree and uphold me with a willing spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen.
