“Jesus said to him, ” ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37
The gospel of Jesus is for everyone. The great commission is your commission. It is not just a matter of preaching or teaching but the commitment to spread the gospel in every way possible. Several people take the gospel of Jesus as a job they are hired to do, not their purpose of living. That’s why many will ever be worldly Christians while some world-class Christians.
These two categories of Christians have differences. The worldly Christians could be those who look to God for their personal fulfillment. They are saved but self-centered. Those are the Christians who bargain on every work of the ministry. They will never lay hands on any gospel work except it will benefit them in some way.
Matthew 7:15-16 says, “Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruit, you shall know them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?”
Pressing forward, this category of worldly Christians loves to attend concerts and seminars that will enrich them one way, but never on any missions conference because they are never interested. When these people pray, their prayers are centered on their personal needs, blessings, and happiness. Their concentration is always on how God will make their lives better and comfortable.
Are you a worldly Christian? In your whole Christain journey, have you been using God for your purposes instead of being used for His purposes? Every one of us must be deliberate about serving God. It is unwise to serve God partially, being called Christians but not true worshipers. Make the decision that would make you enjoy the full blessings of God today. Serve God with the whole of your resources, and you will never regret serving the Lord. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for anyone else.”
1. Psalm 37:23: Oh Lord, establish my step in the direction of your will and purpose.
2. Ask the Lord to searches your heart and purges it of every form of selfishness in Jesus’s name.
