Contenders For Your Mind!
“For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other so that you do not do what you want.” Galatians 5:17
Do you sometimes feel like you are at war with yourself? That your body and mind are constantly in conflict? According to Scripture, the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other so that you do not do what you want. (Galatians 5:17). Like oil and water, the flesh and the Spirit cannot mix. They are in opposition to each other, and this can be seen in how we humans often crave things contrary to God’s will in our lives.
Remember, the mind can be regarded as a battlefield where so many thoughts and ideas strive to win the battle. Whomever you eventually yield yourself to will be in control of your mind. If your mind can be controlled, then it is certain that your life can be controlled. The devil is much more interested in gaining control over our minds, just like the Spirit of God wants to have authority over it.
Romans 7:23 says, “But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.”
In the book of Galatians 5:16-18, we see that the flesh and the Spirit of God are in the contest for your mind. The desire and intention of both of them are contrary, and they both struggle for your mind. This sometimes puts you in between two opposite decisions. To whom you yield yourself to is whom you will obey. If you yield yourself to the Spirit of God, you will do the things of God or follow God’s counsel and direction, but if you yield yourself to the flesh, you will only do things in a carnal way, and works of the flesh will be manifested in your life.
So, it is important to protect our minds from any intruders. We must ensure that we are well-trained and safeguard our minds from unwanted thoughts, emotions, and memories. There are many contenders for our minds, and we have to be very careful about what we allow in. We need to be aware of the thoughts and emotions feeding our minds. If we are not careful, we can easily become bogged down by negative thoughts and emotions. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
Prayer:
1. Father Lord, help me to yield myself to the Spirit of God always in the name of Jesus
2. Father Lord, help me to be able to recognize the voice of your Spirit in the name of Jesus
3. You malevolent spirits and demons of sickness programmed to infect my life and family, be paralyzed by the name of Jesus now. Amen.
