“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50:20
“Sometimes, the greatest blessings come wrapped in discomfort.” Just like Hannah in 1 Samuel, many of us find ourselves in seasons of unfulfilled potential. Hannah was beloved but barren, overshadowed by her rival Peninnah’s fruitfulness. This story reminds us that God often uses moments of discomfort to ignite a fire within us, pushing us out of complacency and toward His divine purpose.
Hannah’s heartfelt cries to God reveal how divine provocation can lead to profound breakthroughs. Her dissatisfaction catalyzed her fervent prayers, ultimately resulting in the birth of Samuel—a prophet destined for greatness. We all experience “Peninnah moments”—those disruptions that stir our spirits and compel us to urgently seek God. These moments remind us not to settle for complacency but to pursue the fullness of His promises.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end”.
Let’s not shy away from our own “Peninnah moments.” Instead, let them stir us to seek God with renewed vigor, trusting His timing is perfect. Let’s encourage one another to trust in God’s perfect timing and process, as stated in Ecclesiastes 3:11. And as we step forward in faith, may we inspire ourselves, our friends, and our families to fully engage in the beautiful journey God has laid before us (Philippians 3:14).
So, let’s embrace the discomfort, resist the urge to compare ourselves to others, and believe that God’s blessings unfold in stages. As we step into this divine discontent, may we pray for courage and clarity to pursue the fullness of God’s purpose in our lives. Amen. Proverbs 16:4 says, “The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.” Philippians 3:14 says, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Amen
Prayer for the Day!
“Heavenly Father, thank You for using every moment- joyful and challenging—to draw us closer to You. Help us to embrace our Peninnah moments and trust in Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
