“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1
A proven point in the bible is that human is a tripartite being, with a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body. They cannot become human if any of the above processes are bypassed. Out of the three-part that make us human, the most delicate of it all is the body.
The body is the extreme form that we can see, while the other two is invisible, the body desires to have a lot of worldly things. The body desires the adorning of the flesh, more than the adorning of the inner part of everyone. The body lusted after the pleasures of sin for a moment, rather than the light affliction which worked for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
Romans 6:12 says, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.” The body gives itself to sinful nature either consciously or unconsciously, because the body craves for the pleasures of life. And the craving for this pleasure leads some people to foolishness, thereby making them fall short of the glory of God. (Paraphrase from Titus 3:3).
As a Christian, you need to wake up from obeying the lust of the flesh, by crucifying your body daily, so that sin does not take hold of your glorious crown. Remember, after death, the body starts decaying, leaving the soul to appear before the judgment of the seat of Christ to be judged of the things done by the body. “For we must all appear before the judgment-seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”2 Corinthians 5:10
1. Pray for the grace to carry about in your body the spirit of Jesus Christ.
2. Spirit of the living God, breathe upon your temple and renew my thirst for God’s will and his righteousness in Jesus’ name.
