“And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.” Acts 22:6
An encounter with God is a profound and life-altering experience that can be likened to stumbling upon a hidden treasure in an ancient cave. Imagine Saul, a man filled with hatred and anger towards followers of Jesus. He was on a mission to persecute those who believed in the teachings of Christ. But one day, everything changed for him. As he was traveling on the road to Damascus, suddenly, a bright light shone around him, blinding him (Acts 9:1-8).
Little did Saul know that this encounter was no ordinary event. In that blinding light stood Jesus Himself, reaching out to transform Saul’s life forever. It was like stumbling upon a hidden treasure deep within an ancient cave – unexpected and full of awe. This encounter with God shook Saul to his core. His vision was restored; a newfound understanding of love and grace now compelled him. The man who once ruthlessly pursued believers became one of the most fervent advocates for Christ’s message. His story changed, his mission changed, and his calling became different instead of being a killer. He began to preach salvation after the encounter he had with GOD.
Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that published peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that published salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigned!”
Saul, now known as Paul, went on to become an instrumental figure in early Christianity. His writings and teachings inspired countless individuals for centuries and still counting. This transformation shows us that no matter how lost or consumed by hate we may feel, encountering God can radically change our lives. Just like Saul experienced this divine encounter unexpectedly, we too can stumble upon our encounters with God when we least expect them. These moments could be found in quiet reflection or through the words of someone speaking truth into our lives.
When we encounter God, it’s not just about finding eternal salvation but also about experiencing personal transformation. We are given the opportunity to let go of past hurts and prejudices and embrace love and forgiveness instead. So take heart! Remember Saul’s story and know that your encounter with God is possible – even if you haven’t yet encountered it. Trust that divine timing will bring you face-to-face with the precious treasure that lies hidden within Christ Jesus, waiting to transform your life forever. Amen. 2 Thessalonians 3:5 says, “May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.” Amen.
Prayer:
1. Lord, grant me the strength to walk in obedience with you.
2. In the name of Jesus, may you encounter God’s presence in every situation you face. May your heart be open to His guidance, wisdom, and love. May your eyes be attuned to see His hand at work amidst life’s challenges and blessings. Amen.
