Eternal Investment!

“Labor not for the meat which perished, but for that meat which endured unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” John 6:27

One of the biggest questions of life is, ‘what do you spend your time working for?’ It is a question that digs into the lifestyle of everyone. In our text for the day, there are two entities in observation; the perishable and the everlasting. Each of our activities on earth has its recordings either in perishable form or the everlasting, and this is the reason every believer must not just live and act anyhow.

However, we must be deliberate about our words, attitude, service, labor. Every meat or food on earth is perishable, and this verse is not speaking against being diligent in meeting basic needs like food and shelter (in all perishable forms), but it is pointing at the core motive of all our activities. Beyond the conscious state of mind, God’s kingdom should be found in our sub-conscious mind as the purpose of every labor.

Are we genuinely seeing Jesus at the end of each of our works? Jesus said, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believed on me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). In order words, when we channel our labor towards Jesus, who is the bread of life, we earn the bread that never perishes. We began to drink from the water that never runs dry.

The main gist today is that we should do all things for Jesus, and just for Jesus alone. Either in our vocations or personal dealings, let the kingdom of God be the focus. Give more into Christ’ Life. Proverbs 11:24 says, “One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.”

Prayer:
Lord, I thank you for Your love and sacrifice over my life, install an everlasting consciousness of your kingdom in us. Let us only see You as the source of life.
