“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19-20
Life is a fleeting moment, a mere whisper in the vastness of eternity. As C.S. Lewis once said, “Life is short. Eternity is long.” Therefore, we need to consider how we invest our time, resources, and hearts. Each day presents us with choices that shape not only our present but also our future in the eternal realm. As we navigate through life, let’s remember the words of Matthew 6:19-20 and “Build your wealth where the currency is grace and the returns are everlasting joy.”
The story of the Rich Fool in Luke 12:16-21 illustrates the folly of focusing solely on material wealth. This man accumulated riches but failed to recognize the fleeting nature of life and the importance of investing in what truly matters. God doesn’t discourage us from managing our resources; instead, He encourages us to do so with an eternal perspective. “Managing your earthly resources with wisdom is not a distraction from eternity — it’s part of your preparation for it.” By aligning our priorities with God’s kingdom, we can make decisions that bear fruit for eternity.
Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
When we shift our focus from temporary gains to eternal investments, everything changes. Each act of kindness, every moment spent nurturing relationships, becomes a building block for an everlasting legacy. Remember, “To value forever is not to waste today; responsible living is faith in action.” Imagine how different our daily lives would be if we viewed each choice through this lens, making decisions that reflect God’s love and purpose.
As we cultivate an eternal perspective, remember to “Invest kindness and love where moths cannot eat and thieves cannot steal, because every small act of faithfulness contributes to a greater purpose beyond our understanding. Investing in others and in our relationship with God yields dividends that outlast the dust of this world. Amen. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Amen.
Prayer for the Day!
I declare in the name of Jesus that your name shall not be erased from the book of life. May God help you to steward His resources wisely for His purpose. May every step you take be guided by divine wisdom and faith. I pray that God’s favor surrounds you like a shield, opening doors of opportunity and blessing. May your life reflect His love, and may you continue to grow in grace, strength, and understanding, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
