Fellowship in the Spirit!

Fellowship in the Spirit!

“Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Philippians 2: 2.

Apostle commended the Philippines, that if there is any encouragement in Christ, comfort from love, participation in the Spirit, affection, and sympathy, it is to fellowship together in the Spirit. We should note that these were a set of people who were not more than four households. He was writing it to encourage them because he never expected much from them; he was amazed when the church sent him a gift and cash for the ministry’s work through Epaphroditus.

There is nothing that can be compared to being in fellowship with one mind. The Philippian church was a group of people characterized by love; they made tremendous progress in their walk with God. The first verse says; Fill up and complete my joy by living in harmony and agreeing in one purpose. When an organization or a group of people is driven with one purpose, nothing can stop them. But let’s get this straight.

Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility, consider others more important than yourselves.”

But some Christians today in the body of Christ can limit their progress because of division among themselves. They don’t fellowship together in the Spirit of unity but rather in the Spirit of separation. They forget “that a divided house shall fall.” (Mark 3:25). The church has to be unified for it to function properly. We need more unity in love, faith, and hope for the mountain to shift. The church needs to be United in one common purpose, not in typical selfish gain. James 3:16 – “For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.”

Grudges and disagreements are inevitable. But harboring them when it occurs for so long is a sin. Back to the Philippian Church, they are few, but they did what big churches cannot do. They started with Just four households, yet they made progress because they had all things in common. Brethren, be of one mind together, and you will become more than conquerors. 2 Corinthians 13:11 says, “Finally, brethren, rejoice! Aim for perfect harmony, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”

Prayer
1. Dear Lord, help me to esteem others above myself, help me to value brethren in Christ
2. Holy Spirit, teach me how to love as Jesus do the father’s will.
3. Psalm 119:80, “May my heart be blameless in Your statutes that I may not be put to shame.” in Jesus’ name. Amen
