“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1
In the darkest moments of our lives, when it feels like we are drowning in despair, gratitude becomes our lifeline. It is the shining light amid our storms, guiding us through the uncertainty. With hearts filled with gratitude, we discover a newfound strength to endure and overcome any hardships that come our way. As Psalm 100:1-5 says, we enter His presence with thanksgiving, knowing that God’s love and mercy will sustain us.
Let us remember the story of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19. Only one of them returned to express his gratitude for being healed by Jesus. This is a powerful reminder for us to never take blessings for granted and always acknowledge God’s goodness in our lives. The ten lepers were outcasts, shunned by society and suffering from a debilitating disease. Their encounter with Jesus was a glimmer of hope in their desperate situation. With compassion and mercy, Jesus healed them, giving them a new lease on life.
Luke 17:14 says, “When Jesus saw them, He said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were on their way, they were cleansed.”
But sadly, only one of the lepers turned back to express his gratitude. He fell at Jesus’ feet, praising God with a loud voice. This lone leper recognized the magnitude of what had happened to him – not just physical healing but In times when hope seems distant and our spirits feel weary, let us embrace gratitude as an act of faith and prayer. By expressing our thankfulness to God for even the smallest blessings, we open ourselves up to receive more abundance and restoration in every aspect of our lives.
May gratitude be engraved deeply within our hearts so that when darkness tries to consume us, it is gratitude that prevails. Let it embolden our souls with renewed hope and encourage us to press on amidst adversity. Today, let us choose gratitude as a way of life, surrendering all burdens at His feet and allowing His grace to guide our every step. We find solace and peace through gratefulness as we trust God’s unwavering love for us. Amen. 1 Chronicles 16:34 says, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” Amen.
