In his early days, before experiencing a radical encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus, Paul was known as Saul—a fervent persecutor of Christians.

However, when confronted by the blinding light and overwhelming power of Jesus’ presence, Saul’s heart underwent a remarkable shift. From that moment forward, he embraced a relentless commitment to serving God’s purposes. Over time, this tenacious resolve birthed greatness within Paul’s life. He humbly acknowledged his weaknesses and allowed Christ’s strength to flow through him unhindered.

Romans 12:3 says, “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.”

With unwavering faith and immense courage, he fearlessly proclaimed the Gospel message amidst adversity and opposition, tirelessly striving to bring others into an intimate relationship with Jesus. Paul exemplified how decreasing oneself is not self-deprecation but rather an acknowledgment that true significance lies in surrendering our will to God’s divine plan. By emptying ourselves of pride, selfish ambition, and personal desires, we make room for Christ’s transformative power to work mightily within us.

Let us embrace a steadfast determination to decrease ourselves daily—letting go of any hindrance or distraction that impedes Christ from fully manifesting in our lives. In doing so, we open up boundless possibilities for greatness—both in terms of impacting those around us and experiencing the fullness of God’s love. Amen. James 3:13 says, “Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct, let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.” Amen.
