Guard Your Heart!
“Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
From childhood, every child is being taught how to avoid dangers. Parents give us some safety tips to use on the road, in the kitchen, on the playground, and in every other related situation. Personally, the teachings were more than that for me.
However, many parents also taught their children how to guard their heart, “ensure you don’t listen to bad friends who ask you to go against the will of God,” “whenever you see a nude picture, quickly take your eyes away and erase it in your mind with the blood of Jesus,” mum and dad would consistently advise, and those were the categories of safety tips they offer.
As I grew more in spirit, then I came across this scripture, “Keep thy heart with all diligence.” I repeated and meditated on this part for a while. “Keep thy heart with all diligence,” this sounds like a responsibility to every individual. You don’t just wake up each day and allow corrupt thoughts to enter your heart by any means, guard it with all diligence and in the word of God. The weapons to defend the heart is in the Bible.
When we are filled with God’s word, there wouldn’t be room for other elements of atrocity that can be contained within our hearts. Therefore, see the protection of your heart as your responsibility because it’s essential to identify your weapon in God’s word when guarding your heart. We cannot guard it better than He would. Set your life before Him and walk in alignment with God’s order today, and your life will never be corrupted. Proverbs 23:12 says, “Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge.”
Lord, as I lay my entire life in your hands, help me to know the ways to go. Help my heart to move in your will and directions, Father.
