Humility is a Virtue!

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.” Philippians 2:3

Humility is a remarkable virtue that can profoundly influence every aspect of our lives, including business, relationships, marriage, career, and ministry. It’s the quality of being modest and unassuming. In today’s world, where pride often takes center stage, practicing humility can strengthen bonds with others and open doors we never imagined possible.

A powerful example of humility in action can be found in the life of John Wooden, the legendary UCLA basketball coach. Known for his record-breaking success, he was as humble as they come. Even after winning ten national championships, Wooden credited his team’s effort over his coaching abilities. He famously said, “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” This perspective emphasizes that by lowering ourselves and focusing on collaboration rather than competition, we achieve greater heights together.

In Matthew 11:29, Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

In our relationships and marriages, humility invites us to listen more and speak less. It allows couples to forgive one another’s shortcomings while recognizing their imperfections. The Bible encourages this attitude in Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.” When we approach our partnerships with this mindset, we cultivate an environment filled with love and respect.

In a professional or ministry context, humility helps leaders build trust among their teams or congregations. A humble leader is approachable and willing to learn from others’ insights. Remember, embracing this truth leads to growth—not just personally but also collectively within our communities. As you navigate through your journey today, carry the spirit of humility with you; it could change everything for the better! Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Amen

Prayer for the Day!
Heavenly Father, I come before you with a heart yearning for humility. Lord, help me to embody the spirit of humility, recognizing that true strength lies in lifting others up and serving them with love. Just as a sturdy tree provides shade and shelter without expecting anything in return, may my actions reflect your grace and generosity toward those around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
