“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they will be with me.” Revelation 3:20
As human beings, we often feel like we have complete control over our lives. We make and follow plans, believing everything is under our control. However, the truth is that there are many things in life that we cannot control. And sometimes, it takes a wake-up call to remind us of this fact. Today’s Bible verse reminds us that God is always waiting for us to invite Him into our lives. He wants to write His story in our hearts but can only do so if we let Him in.
Is there room in our hearts for God to write His story? It is a question we must all ask ourselves. We know that the Bible tells us that God has great plans and purposes for each of us, but how do we open the door for Him to come in and work out His story? It starts with us being willing to make space in our lives and hearts to include Him. We must take time out of our busy lives and listen to His words. This can often look like walking around nature, praying or meditating, or reading Scripture. Allowing ourselves moments of reflection will help us be better prepared when He does speak into our situation.
Psalm 139:16 says, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Before we were born, God had a plan for our lives. This plan is not haphazard but carefully crafted to align with our unique personalities, talents, and aspirations. However, feeling anxious or unsure about the future and whether we’re on the right path is natural. However, it is essential to trust that God’s plan for you is unfolding in its perfect time. Although it may not happen as fast as you expect or desire, there is no need to worry because everything happens according to His divine timing. It would help if you reminded yourself that patience and perseverance are crucial virtues during this faith journey.
To make room in your heart for God means letting go of any negative emotions, such as fear and doubt, that could hinder your progress. Instead, focus on cultivating a positive mindset characterized by hopefulness and gratitude toward life’s blessings. Remember, amazing things will happen when we surrender and trust God’s guidance. This doesn’t mean life will always be straightforward – challenges and obstacles will still exist. But by making room in our hearts for God, we will find peace and strength even in difficult times. Amen. John 15:7 says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” Amen.
Prayer:
Oh Lord, I open my heart for you, come and fill me with the cup of your love. I am willing to give up everything for you because I want your will to be done in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
