“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36
The Ultimate Sacrifice is a phrase that brings to mind the concept of giving up something valuable for a greater cause. This idea is deeply rooted in human nature and has been exemplified throughout history. From soldiers who risk their lives to protect their countries to parents who make sacrifices for their children, the ultimate Sacrifice comes in many forms. According to John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” This verse speaks about how Jesus Christ made the ultimate Sacrifice by dying on the cross so that humanity could be saved from sin and death. His selfless act of love serves as an example to others of what it means to make the ultimate Sacrifice.
In our daily lives, we often face choices that require us to give up something important- whether it’s time, money, or effort – for a greater purpose. However, the freedom to walk freely is a basic human right we often take for granted. It’s something that most of us have never had to fight for, but it’s something that many people around the world are still denied. More than 40 million people are living in modern-day slavery today. This is a shocking statistic and one that should make us all reevaluate our freedoms.
1 Corinthians 16:13 says, “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.”
As Christians, we are reminded of the importance of freedom in Galatians 5:1 – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” We know that God desires us to be free from all forms of bondage and oppression, both physical and spiritual. And yet so many people still choose to live with the chains of slavery holding them back. They live with a sense of guilt and fear. They think life has become meaningless due to their sin, error, or mistakes that have been made.
We are all sinners, but some are free from this bondage because of our knowledge and belief in Christ’s Sacrifice. Jesus was crucified in our place, so he died on the cross for us to be free and enjoy victory and abundant life. The ultimate Sacrifice on the cross gives us a breakthrough from our sins and brings us back to God. Jesus set you free to claim back God’s original plan: to have power and dominion over the good things that God created. However, you must stand firm and avoid sin because it is a yoke of slavery. Amen. Ephesians 3:12 says, In Christ, we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. Amen.
