Lord, Open My Eyes to Know Christ More!

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better…” Ephesians 1:17-19

Hear this: Revelation is your October advantage. There are seasons when you do not merely need more information—you need holy sight. You need the Lord to open your eyes beyond the confusion, the closed doors, and the next unanswered step, so you can see Christ more clearly. Sight unlocks steps. When Jesus becomes larger in your vision, fear loses its authority, and your heart finds strength to move forward. See, then be.

Paul prayed that believers would receive “the Spirit of wisdom and revelation” and that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened” to know the hope of God’s calling and the riches of His inheritance (Ephesians 1:17–19). On the road to Emmaus, two discouraged disciples walked beside the risen Jesus without recognizing Him. But as He broke bread, “their eyes were opened,” and their hearts testified, “Were not our hearts burning within us?” (Luke 24:31–32). As the saying goes, “Light lifts limits.” In Christ, beholding is never passive: “Beholding becomes becoming,” for as we gaze on the Lord’s glory, we are being transformed into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Ephesians 1:18 says, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”

Beloved, perhaps your eyes are tired from watching circumstances, replaying disappointments, or measuring your life against what has not happened yet. Jesus is near even when He feels unrecognized. Ask Him to meet you in His Word, in quiet prayer, and in the ordinary breaking of your day. Do not condemn yourself for needing fresh vision. Come close. Let His presence warm the places in you that have grown cold, and let His truth name what anxiety has distorted.

I pray that as you seek the Lord, He will guide your heart into deeper knowledge of Christ and shape your steps by His wisdom. Choose one practical act of faith today: open Ephesians 1:17–19, read it slowly aloud, and write one area where you need God’s light. Then take the next obedient step you can see—make the call, offer forgiveness, rest, serve, or wait with worship. See, then be: behold Jesus, and yield to His transforming work. Amen. Ephesians 1:19 says, “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power.” Amen.

Prayer for the Day!

Lord Jesus, thank You for wisdom and revelation through Your Spirit. Flood the eyes of my heart with light. Where I have been confused, show me Your hope; where I have been fearful, reveal Your strength; where I have been distant, draw me near. Open my eyes to know Christ more, to love Him more deeply, and to walk faithfully in the light You give. Let my heart burn again in Your presence. In Jesus name. Amen.
