Lord, Open My Eyes to Opportunities!

“Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. So, she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.” Genesis 21:19

Did you know that the word “opportunity” derives from the Latin term “ob portum,” which translates to “toward the harbor”? In ancient times, this referred to the moment when ships could access safe harbor amidst tumultuous seas. Just as sailors rely on divine timing for safe passage, so too are we called to discern the sacred opportunities God places before us, even in our storms.

In Genesis 21:19, we find Hagar, who was wandering in the wilderness, her hope seemingly lost. Yet, God opened her eyes, revealing a well of water that had been there all along. This powerful moment reflects the truth of Ephesians 1:17–18, where Paul prays for our eyes to be enlightened, so we can grasp the hope and riches God has in store for us. As we seek His wisdom, we must remain vigilant to the blessings hiding in plain sight.

Ephesians 1:17-18 says, “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”

In our daily lives, we often miss the wells God has provided. By removing the blind spots of doubt and fear, we position ourselves to see His provisions. When we value relationships and look for solutions, we begin to open doors that lead to growth and joy. Remember, “Provision often hides in plain sight.” With every step we take in faith, ‘we see, seize, and steward’ the opportunities laid before us.

Now, receive this prophetic declaration over your life: May your eyes be opened to possibilities you never imagined. Just as Hagar learned to trust God’s provision, you too shall experience miracles as you actively seek His direction. Each time you step out in faith, whether it’s reaching out to a neighbor in need or pursuing a dream, you will manifest God’s work in your life. Remember, revelation precedes acceleration; so, let your faith propel you forward. Amen. Psalm 119:18 says, “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”

Prayer for the Day!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessings You have already placed in my life. Lord, unveil opportunities before me and grant me the courage to act upon them. Holy Spirit, fill my heart with the wisdom to discern Your leading. May my eyes be opened to the wells of hope and provision around me. In Jesus name. Amen.
