“Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

Joy oils the journey. Yet sometimes the assignment you once embraced with gladness feels heavy in your hands. You still love God, but you miss the song. Beloved, you can bring that weariness into His presence. The Lord who called you welcomes your honest prayer, so pray and declare it: “Lord, renew my joy for the assignment.”

Nehemiah 8:10 declares, “The joy of the LORD is your strength.” That strength does not depend on comfortable circumstances. Wounded and imprisoned, Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns to God at midnight (Acts 16:25). Psalm 16:11 locates fullness of joy in God’s presence, and Isaiah 12:3 pictures drawing water with joy from salvation’s wells. So, remember, ‘Your supply is found in Christ.’

Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

So, before you answer another message, serve another meal, or take on another responsibility, pause with Jesus. Tell Him where obedience has become exhausting. Joy sustains momentum—not by denying pain, but by restoring your heart in His love, because through His strength, you speak and smile. You need not manufacture cheerfulness because you already receive grace for the next faithful step.

Now hear this before I declare: weariness does not disqualify you from God’s renewing grace. May praise rise again as you trust Him. Let “Joy fuels your jawbone” and use your voice for worship: sing while washing dishes; offer thanks before the difficult conversation. Remember, “Joy outlasts Jericho, and yours shall outlast those circumstances.” So, trust God because true joy comes from Him. Amen. Isaiah 12:3 says, “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Amen.

Prayer for the Day!

Father, thank You for joy; refresh my spirit and stride. Forgive my attempts to carry Your assignment without drawing near to You. Meet me in my weariness, restore my delight in Your presence, and teach me to serve from love rather than depletion. Lord, renew my joy for the assignment. In Jesus name, Amen.
