“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25
Lost time may leave a mark, but it does not place your life beyond God’s restoring touch. He sees the years disappointment has worn thin, the losses you still carry, and the prayers whispered through exhaustion. You can bring Him the ache: Lord, restore what the locust years have touched.
Naomi returned to Bethlehem grieving her husband and sons, yet her story did not end in bitterness. Through Ruth’s faithful love and the birth of Obed, hope entered her life again (Ruth 1–4). God’s promise, “I will restore to you the years” (Joel 2:25), reveals His restoring heart. Joel 2:25–27, Psalm 126:4–6, and Isaiah 61:7 speak of renewal, tearful sowing, and joy beyond shame—not a life untouched by sorrow, but sorrow that cannot defeat God’s purposes.
Psalm 126:4-6 says, “Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.”
Perhaps you cannot recover a missed opportunity or return to life before your loss. You do not have to pretend otherwise. Bring God your disappointment without editing the pain. “Restoration begins where despair stops writing the ending.” Let His presence meet you here. “God can bring purpose from seasons you would not have chosen.”
Over your weary heart, hear this truth: your wounds do not diminish your worth before God, and hardship cannot separate you from His love. Take one faithful step today: ask for support, return to prayer, or offer kindness while you are still healing. Like Ruth gleaning in the fields, move forward with the strength you have. God can grow hope in damaged ground. Amen. Isaiah 61:7 says, “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so, you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.” Amen.
Prayer for the Day!
Thank You, God, for staying near through every difficult season. Father, restore what is broken in me, and help me walk forward with hope. Hold my grief tenderly, renew my courage, and teach me to trust Your faithful love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
