OBEDIENCE; a Prerequisite for Greatness!
“Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘If you walk in My ways, And if you will keep My command, Then you shall also judge My house, And likewise have charge of My courts; I will give you places to walk Among these who stand here.” Zechariah 3:7
Everyone desires to be great in their area of life. Many people even confess it daily, and yet it seems as if it’s not coming forth. The word of God says that it is God that elevates and abase. He decides whom to promote and also to demote. He lifts slaves to sit with kings and princes, and He can downgrade kings to slaves.
However, before God promotes anyone to a great place, He looks for a particular thing in their lives, which is obedience. A man or woman that is obedient and keeps God’s commandment will be a commission for greatness. Such an individual walks in His ways will always keep His words and will not do a contrary thing to God’s commands.
Before God elevated Joseph, David, Daniel, and all great vessels of God according to the Holy Scripture, they passed the test of being sincere and obedient to God and His word. When we have a fear of God in us, obeys all His words and doesn’t care about what people will say, but what God will say is our priority, then we are a candidate for greatness in life. But we must obey out of trust, not legalism or force.
God always set apart Godly people for His purpose, glory, and greatness in every generation. If we want to be a useful and loving vessel to God, we need to learn to obey and be totally committed to His word. We must stand by His instruction. Psalm 4:3 says, “Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.”
1. Father, I know it’s your will for me to be great, give me the grace to be obedient to you at all time.
2. Isaiah 8:10; Oh! LORD, arise, scatter, and make foolish every counsel taken against my life now, in Jesus’ name.
3. The host of Heaven will visit your ministry, business, or career with unusual enlargement and promotion this season in the name of Jesus. Jeremiah 33:3.
