“When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30
As the great preacher Charles Spurgeon once said, When Jesus said, ‘It is finished,’ He meant it. His sacrifice on the cross has redeemed us from all sin and shame. Romans 8:1 reminds us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Just as the prodigal son was welcomed back by his loving father with open arms, we are embraced by our Heavenly Father with overflowing grace.
In Genesis, God provided a ram as a substitute sacrifice for Abraham’s son Isaac, foreshadowing Christ taking our place on the cross. The story of Jonah being saved from the belly of the great fish reflects how Christ has rescued us from death and destruction. Let us take hold of this truth and walk boldly in the freedom that Christ has won for us. Just like Joseph rising to power in Egypt after facing betrayal and hardship, we can rise above our circumstances through Christ’s victory.
Romans 8:17 says, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if indeed we share in his sufferings so that we may also share in his glory.”
So let us lift our heads high, knowing that we are children of God and co-heirs with Christ. We find strength in His love and mercy to overcome every trial and temptation. Like Peter walking on water towards Jesus, let our faith keep us steady amidst life’s storms. With hearts full of gratitude, let us proclaim the victory of our Savior, who conquered sin and death once and for all.
Let us not be burdened by guilt or fear, for we find our strength and redemption in Christ’s victory. With unwavering faith and gratitude, let us stand firm in His love and walk confidently in His promises. Amen. Galatians 4:7 says, “So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God.” Amen.
