Overcome the World! 2
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
Having been saved from the world, do not allow yourself to be entangled anymore. You were once of the world and have been rescued from it. Don’t be confused that the world in this context refers to its way, course, and pattern. When the scriptures refer to people that follow the ways of the world, it means following the precepts of the devil.
Hence, don’t follow the multitude to do evil. That everyone does it, doesn’t make it right and acceptable before God. Christians must stay away from the desires and ways of the world. Whoever thread the worldly path will perish with the world, but anyone who follows Christ will forever abide in peace with God.
Don’t be distracted by the pleasures of the world; neither consider anything that compromises your faith. The world possesses flashy things that draw attention, but they are mere deceit; what you see at the surface is different from the content, and this could result in danger, evil, and destruction. Be well-informed that this world poses a lot of challenges and opposition to you because of the faith that you had professed.
The world system spends on its pleasures; they live by their own rules to please themselves but not God. As a Christian, do not be an accomplice with the devil; if you love the world systems, then you are an enemy of God. If anyone dares to be God’s enemy, then such a person is in danger and trouble.1 John 2:15 says, “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
- Dear Father, deliver me from the love of worldly pleasure.
- Lord Jesus, please give me the grace never to be conformed to this world.
