“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” Psalm 77:11-12
Life’s journey is akin to a road trip, where the rearview mirror serves as a vital tool for reflection. Just as we adjust our mirrors to keep an eye on where we’ve been, let’s take a moment to appreciate the divine mile markers we’ve passed this year. These markers symbolize the moments when God’s hand guided us, leading us toward growth and understanding. As we reflect, we awaken our hearts to the blessings that surround us.
In 1 Samuel 7, we encounter the moment when Samuel raises the Ebenezer stone, declaring, “Thus far, the Lord has helped us.” This act of remembrance invites us to honor the milestones in our lives where God’s faithfulness has shone bright. Psalm 77:11-12 reminds us, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” Let us acknowledge those remarkable instances, those sacred mile markers that mark His grace in our lives.
Deuteronomy 8:2 says, “Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.”
As you consider the coming year, I encourage you to take a moment and list three divine mile markers that stand out to you in this year. Perhaps it was a sudden opportunity, a friendship renewed, or a lesson learned. Each of these beautiful moments is a testament to God’s unwavering presence in our lives. Deuteronomy 8:2 calls us to remember the way He has led us, guiding our steps with love and wisdom.
As we gather these reflections, let’s embrace the truth that “God’s past faithfulness is our future confidence,” as Elisabeth Elliot wisely stated. Our memories of His goodness are not just reminders; they are fuel for our journey ahead. The road we travel today is paved with experiences designed to prepare us for what lies ahead, where our souls can rest assured in His steadfast love. Amen. Psalm 111:4 says, “He has caused His wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate.”
Prayer for the Day!
Heavenly Father, thank You for the mile markers You have placed in our path. We rejoice in the moments of guidance and light that reveal Your love. Brethren, I pray for you that yesterday’s miracles shall be a blessed memory for the coming years. They shall be a lamp to your path and a song in your night. May the testimony of what God has done strengthen your faith for what He is about to do. May peace guard your hearts, wisdom order your steps, and joy be your portion in every season. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
