Relevance of the Cross!

“So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended, and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.” 1 Corinthians 1:23

The salvation plan of God is for everybody. Paul was telling the Corinthians that salvation is not meant for the Jews alone or the Greeks alone. It is free for everyone that needs to be saved regardless of their past, age, or social status. Only one way leads to salvation, just through the cross. The willpower to do what is right per time has been given to us through the death of Christ.

Any gospel that does not center on the cross or salvation is not the gospel of Christ, our savior. As Christians, the cross is the basis of our faith because the Bible says we must first believe that he died for us. How will there be a gospel of Christ that does not preach about the cross? We preach the salvation of God to everyone and expand the Kingdom as that is our mandate on earth.

Colossians 1:20 says, “Through the Son, God also reconciled all things to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, thereby making peace through the blood of his cross.”

To some, dying on the cross is ridiculous and unbelievable. They will not believe because it does not sound like something they should believe in. but the Bible already said in 1Corintians 3:19 that the wisdom of this world is like foolishness with God. To believe the gospel, you must first believe that Christ came into this world in human form. And He has finished your work of salvation.

However, you have to believe that Jesus died for you. You have to believe that he was crucified for you, and He has made you holy and perfect through the blood he shed on the cross. Though the cross might look like an ordinary symbol to some people, it symbolizes power, glory, life, freedom, and love to us as Christians. It is a symbol that the price of sin has been paid. But you have to believe and sin no more. So Colossians 2:14 says, “By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”

Prayer:
1. Thank you, Jesus, for the price of sin you paid and the death you canceled on the cross.
2. I receive you as my Lord and Savior, God.
