Resist the Devil! 2
“Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13
Resistance can be a defensive mechanism for those who are not willing to comply with the devil’s demands. It is a defense against sin and temptation, which can lead to death and destruction. It can also be related to offensive weapons as Ephesians 6:13-18 recommended that we use the “whole armor of God, the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God and prayer.”
The whole armor of God means we can not leave anything undone if we want to have successful resistance and victory over Satan. The whole armor consist of the spiritual weapons we must have to defeat or expose the enemy’s evil intentions. This includes the truth, or sincerity; the righteousness, which is the way of seeing God; The preparation of the gospel, Faith in the word of God; Hope of salvation. Reading and meditation on the Word of God daily, Prayer life must be authentic and sincere.
Of course, the enemies will try to take advantage of using your weaknesses to get what they want. However, it would be best if you did not give the enemy any power or influence over you. The more you know the scriptures, the better equipped you are to resist the lies of Satan. Jesus did the same with the scripture, the Bible said, “the devil left Him, and angels came and ministered to Him.” (Matthew 4:1-11). Likewise, you too can do the same, but until you know what is written and believe it to be true, then you will have a greater chance to win the battle against your enemy.
Ephesians 4:27 says, “do not give the devil a foothold.” In other words, don’t let the devil take control of your life; instead, let God lead you through the path of life in Christ. The devil is a thief. He wants to steal what makes life beautiful, to make you think you are unworthy of God’s love. Jesus came to give life through the word of God. Remember, John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life and live it to the fullest.”
Prayer:
1. Dear Lord, help me to be strong and courageous in my faith.
2. I resist every form of temptation in the name of Jesus.
3. Isaiah 58:6; In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I nullify, loose, and destroy whatever is programmed against my life.
